Synthesis of tradition by Dzvenyslava Zagayska
The Synthesis of Tradition project by Dzvenyslava Zagayska demonstrates how some key elements of traditional folk art can evolve into individual artistic practice. This publication includes about 100 original Easter eggs created by the artist, most of which were made between 2014 and 2024. The author envisioned the texts and visuals as a unified artistic work, with the Easter egg as a subject of personal creative exploration. For her, making Easter eggs extended beyond folk art—it became a form of individual artistic expression. The main idea embodied experiments with color and composition based on exploring Easter egg traditions. The artist consciously retains the opportunity to use the core technical and ornamental features of Easter egg writing.
